Bemidji provides a broad spectrum of the “Arts”. It covers all bases in the fine arts, visual arts, performing arts, and access to language arts. The downtown is home to a 45+ piece sculpture walk that includes a variety of mediums that change each year.
Bemidji is host to various art shows and art fairs as well as the on going First Fridays exhibits just to name a few. The list is equally as long in the performing arts.
The University provides a year round venue of concerts, recitals, orchestra as well as the annual Madrigals. The community offers a nice venue of choral groups, coffee house singles to a stage of first class symphony orchestra. Bemidji is also home to a host of theater groups that provide a vast venue of theater, from professional summer stock, High School and University theater, youth and community theater.
For 3 days in October, area artisans open their studios for behind-the-scenes view of how their work is created. This opportunity to make a personal connection with artists, nestled in the beauty of the northwoods, offers an enjoyment of the arts first hand. Evening performances of theater and music add to the bounty of experiences the First City of Arts has to offer.
